engine swap: need your opinion on this swap
I have the oppurtuninty to purchase a 2.2 liter sohc vtec motor for a relitvely cheap price from my friend's '94 Honda Accord. I have a '91 Prelude, and was wondering if it is possible to swap this motor into my car, and what I would need to get to make the swap work. Anything would help. Thanks
I think that this topic has been covered a lot. With money anything can be done. Is it worth is....it depends how cheap the motor is.......otherwise just do an H22.
depends on what you consider cheap. You also could probably find a B-series motor for cheap also which is a more common swap into your car.

Thats not going to happen.

what model is your 91??
if its an Si why would you go from DOHC to SOHC, i dont care if it is VTEC or not
i would say dont buy that motor and get something else thats a more direct swap or has been done before and they make a mount kit for.
Place Racing makes a mount kit for the H22 to swap in, but the tranny mount is too long and puses the motor too far to the drivers side, but that can be worked around
also, you can get a JDM B20A DOHC NON-VTEC ( prelude B20 not civic/crv ) and thats a direct swap, its got 135 hp and 135 tq, thats the most common swap into a 3rd gen prelude.
if you want one of the Bseries VTEC motors that all the civics have, you would have to make custom mounts and weld them to new mount points in the engine bay because that motor doesnt bolt in to our 3rd gens, despite the fact that its a Bseries, its one of the newer ones not the original Bseries motors that the preludes came with.
here are some pics:
this is a 3rd gen w/ H22
heres another H22 in a 3g thats also built and turbo, this guy is pushing 415 hp at the wheels

check out these site if you want more info, you kinda came to the wrong place, not much 3rd gen love

he was talking about doing this swap and then getting a
turbo for it. I'd sell it really cheap but I don't really think
it would be worth all the work.
