Anyone have any news on the 12 Hour at Summit Point?
Chris Cobetto is part of the race team for Tony Zelones' Honda at the 12 hour enduro. Cell phone service is so bad there, and I want to know how they are doing...only one hour left in the race at 11PM!! With the weather looking like it would be rainy, their hopes were pretty high that the car would fare better than most. Qualified 8th overall I know.
Anyone????

I have been wondering about the race all day, we were going to go but decided that putting the cage in the accord was more worthwhile at the moment

There was heavy rain around 3 o'clock. Caused the hatchcrap to misfire a bit. Not a big problem. Around 4 or 5 they stopped the race because of a thunderstorm. At that time they realized they had lost the alternator belt! The battery was dead so they had to fix that and a few other little things which dropped them back a lot. I believe there was also a fouled spark plug problem.
Had they not had these little issues they easily could've finished top five but for the car's first time out it was a good showing. Maybe next year they'll slap in a B18C5 and go after that Porsche

It was an amazing race - i'm absorutry beat though.
The civic had many, many, many issues from friday night on - but our team stayed together and the car finished on its first time out on a race track. The ECU had gotten water in it and was shorting, so we duct taped it up under the dash to keep it dry. The plugs also gave up at 10 hrs. Lap times were genearlly in the 1:31-1:33 range, shifting around 7300-7500 rpm to conserve fuel. There were some 128's in there also. Cobetto was nice enough to coat the entire underside and engine bay with mud, rally style
I had a blast, and if asked to crew chief next year i'll definately do it.

I just wanted to thank all the guys that came out to crew for the DZ-Racing 44 Integra and the 49 civic. We had many issues and I swear we completly rebuild the 49 civic on friday. We actually would have had something for the Porsche if we could carry more fuel. Chris put the car up in 4th overall in the first couple of laps, I really hated telling RJ to tell him to back off and start short shifting. The reason was simple Chris was running in 4th and could keep the 993 Super Cup car in his sights but 25 min. into the race he called in a said he was below 1/2 tank. That was all it took for me to make the call to start conserving fuel. Thanks to everyone who crewed for us, and we hope everyone had a good time.
By the way I know where you can pick up a couple of race motors at a good price, only 12 hours on each motor and only run one weekend by a couple of old guys.

A couple of comments on the 12 hour:
RJ - We wouldn't have started if it wasn't for your help.
Alex and the #12 Type-r Car: I'm sorry the car's didn't hold up. I wanted to see the two of you pass that 993. That would have made my day.
I want to thank the excellent drivers who drove my car: Tony Zelones, Chris Cobetto and Payton Wilson. Thanks for the excellent driving and input for the future of the car.
A special thanks goes out to the title sponsors Vertex Motorsports and Catz Hids.

Just got back from richmond....
I'll put together a set of notes for what happened during the race and how we can improve for next year - however i had a blast working with the Vertex crew. These were some of the most fun to work with, determined, hardcore individuals i've met so far. They put together a car that had never seen a track before, worked through the bugs and got the car to run strong for 12 hrs straight.
I'm already looking forward to next year
x 10000 to Vertex, Tony, Chris and Payton

Yeah, you know, those pesky little things that never need new tires.

Or anything. I'm getting really tired of those miata driving ******* that just sit around the paddock all weekend and never have to work on their cars. Or maybe its the honda drivers that are dumb.
They should have had 2 classes at the 12 hr - 'miata' and 'not miata'
