Default B20 Vtec performance VS Poor man's type R

I use my car for every thing. daily drving, drag racing, autocross and road racing when I have the money. I want to keep my car dependable, and have alot of power to go with it as well.
my situatuaion is... I have a a B16 swapped 97 civic hatch but am looking for more torque\ power out of my little beast.
I am planning some mild cams and alot of tunning on top of a different block. I already have a type R and I want to make my project smoke the R in handleing and power but mantain the amount of reliability.
which brings me to my question... what are you guys perspectives on B20 Vtecs on a road race track VS the B18/B16 hybrid?
I am kind of concerned about the B20 crank and how it is not made to rev as high as the B18 crank? so basically I am looking for some one with experience.
Thanks in advance

How about a very built B16 bottom end? With a bigger bore.
As the motor won't see a lot of low rpms...

Disclaimer: Matt does not own a Honda hybrid powered car.

Having said that, I recognize that a B20 might be the best option for someone looking for setup that's *good* at everything. A 10,000 rpm screaming B16 may be better at road racing, but how is that high strung engine in rush hour traffic? I still am waiting for someone to show up in Street Mod at Topeka in a B20 Civic/CRX and clean house.

Chad knows his chit. Listen and learn...

The b20b cranks have the exact same stroke as a b18b crank... I'm assuming you are NOT talking about a b18c crank or b20a crank or something.
