b18b died.....wont start.help
My b18b, which was dropped about 2 weeks ago into my 98 civic ex, had some problems today. First the spedo stopped working. I figured it was probably the speed sensor. I check cel codes, and Intake temp (10), o2 (41), speed sensor (17), and number 20, defective electical load sensor. I know i have my 02 sensor not hooked up yet, and the speed sensor is plugged in. Prior to this i was only throwing a 10 and 41. Well tonight i am driving, come up to a stoplight, and it dies. we push start it, and I barely make it to a friends house. The alternator fuse is blown, we replace it, then it drives for a minute, then dies. Now it wont start. Last week, I had to get my timing belt adjusted, and they said the alternator was wired wrong (i had to cut and solder wires together. Thats why a fuse was blown when they looked at it. It was working perfect, and now this...So i am guessing that the alternator isnt hooked up right, or is bad, thus it wasnt charging the battery, and now that the battery is dead the car wont start. Still doesnt explain the blown alternator fuse. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Why did you have to solder the altenator wires? Were they to short and you had to extend them? What did the guy mean by it was wired wrong? Did he give you an explination?
the car is a 98 and engine is a 95. Yes not emissions friendly..i know that. But the plugs are different, thus i cut plugs and soldered them together. The wires all look the same, but 2 of them are different. The shop said that i wired them wrong, thus the fuse blew. I dont konw if it is wired correclty now, but since they talked about the problem in the past tense, i assumed they fixed it. I will check though.
