Valve noise louder after making adjustment?
Ok, new question about valve adjustment.
After reading the c-speedracing.com explanation along with the Helms instruction posted on their site, I managed to do my valve adjustment in about.. ooh... 2.5 hrs.
Ya, i know, that's kind of long. Being in good ol' Ottawa, Canada I couldn't track down any valve adjustment tools or specialty tool to make my job easier, and without having a 3rd hand, it was a lot of work!
Not to mention this was my first time getting my hands dirty under the valve cover.
I was some was gratified after I finished the job, however, when I started the engine, the engine seemed louder than it was before (noisey valve train?). Is a valve adjustment supposed to cure the noise? Did I do it incorrectly? Do I need to torque the valve nuts to a certain spec?
I followed step by step from the c-speedracing site. 0.007" on the exhaust valves and 0.006" on the intake.
Help!
Thank in advance.

Did you make sure you engine was very cold when you did it? they can be tricky, did you check the clearance after you tightened the nut, i have had it move a hair after i tightened the nut and had to readjust them.
Yup, I had the engine cold, and did recheck the clearances.
I'm going to have to do everything over one more time to be certain.

I've also been told that when you stick the things (can't seem to remember the name right now) in to measure the clearances, it is supposed to feel snug when you pull them out. So when most people try it for the first time, they end up a little 'looser' than what they think it really is at. So try doing it again but a little tighter.

You know... I JUST did my valve adjustment just now, and it was my first time doing it. I used .006 for the intake and .007 for the exhaust, i checked, double-checked, rechecked, then tightened them down and check again and they were all to spec. The feeler gauges had a slight drag to them, but you can fit the feeler gauge in there no prob.
Afterwards, i start up the engine, and it seems louder. I think its just my imagination though..
