i would imagine just drive as normal, just make sure the car is at NOT before you go rev happy... to me there doesnt sound like a reason for breaking a valve train in, like when you break in an engine your seating the o rings, there isnt really anything that would need to be broken in with the valvetrain... except maby use non-synthedic ( regular? ) oil for breaking in the cams... other than that ..... i guess not unless anyone can prove me otherwise.

*shrugs* When we do head work, we don't do a "break-in" period.

If nothing breaks while it's in, thats a good thing.

Nothing really needs to seat properly, so I can't imagine why there would be a need for a breakin. Maybe a mile just to make sure it was installed properly...

i was basically wondering about seating the valves. i have skunk2 stg 2 cams, with high compression skunk valves and i am hearing a little ticking sound. maybe this is normal, im just a little unsure. i didnt want to get rev happy and have something happen.

I would figure if the car didn't go kerplunk when within the first 30 seconds, you're doing okay.

Glad you finally got that piece of crap running Andy.

its not very loud at all, kinda like a very quiet sewing machine
this was another reason i was hesitant to run it too hard. i just picked the car up a couple days ago.

I'd doublecheck the valve lash. Did you check it after the cams were put in, or..?

Nice article. I had never read anything about it.. not sure if I agree, but some points are very valid.

I have noticed that my valvetrain noise is louder with the Skunk2 Stage 2's. The Toda "D"s I have are quieter. It must have something to do with the ramp angle of the Skunks; I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes excessive. Just make sure that the valves are adjusted properly.

the guy who did the work for me told me that i should run the car for about 1500 miles then he will adjust the valves again, does that sound funny? also i was thinking if was something with the skunk stg. 2 that i was just being paranoid about

Sounds like a sound plan. After the valvetrain has had a chance to break in, so to speak, rechecking the valve lash is a good idea.
