Crower turbo cam good for boosted LS?
I'm thinking about putting some of the turbo cams from Crower in my otherwise stock LS. I am a little worried that they will take some of the low end torque out of my power band though.
Does anybody have experience with these cams? I've searched but never really found any concrete answer to this. I'm running 14psi and I'd like to get some more torque in the high rpms to raise the max HP.
See how my torque drops? I'd like to lessen that drop.

i have crower turbo stage2 cam in my gsr. i got very low torqoe when i compare to my hp. i boost 15psi on dyno= 450hp and 280torque. they said it might be my turbo cam.
Did you ever dyno before the installation of the cams? That'd tell you everything you need (and I need) to know.
thanks for the bumps.

So there are all these people running boosted LS's out there and nobody has tried these cam? I feel bad for Crower. Yikes.

To make 450HP @ 15 psi that has got to be a big mother of a turbo, not making much boost down low, and that's why you're not making very much torque.

There was a post about this maybe a week ago, cheezefrog said he was using them and liked them, and if I remember correctly he made 500+ WHP.

We need a dyno of before and after. We need to find out pro and cons, like many products you gain in some areas but sacrifice in others. Cheezefrog let's see some before and after dyno's if you have them
btw how much are they on groupbuy?

That's what I'm saying! Why hasn't this been done yet?
(edit) Oh, thanks on the dyno comments. That's exactly why I'm not interested in going to a bigger turbo. This is my daily driver and I like to auto-x more than drag race. This is the IHI ball bearing turbo from the Apex'i SOHC kit btw. I've upgraded the spring in the waste gate though.

LOL, yeah, it is amazing. It's an efficient little bugger. Abradeable seal and ball bearings.
I think I'm running somewhere around 18 degrees up high. I think that's what I heard the tuner say anyway. What's really cool is that the power curve is pretty similar to the natural curve of the LS so I'm hoping that I can get more top end with out having to go to a bigger turbo. Wish me luck.
Yeah, it's a totally stock motor. It's got terrific compression (183,190,190,190) and it burns very little oil which is a miracle since I ran it with very poor engine management (7psi) for seven months before going Hondata. I just don't like poping open a virgin factory motor if I don't have to.
It's starting to look like I'm going to have to be a guinea pig. Anybody want to donate in the name of science?
