Default 16" tires....NEED HELP

I've searched but there's no thread on 16" tires that answers my question. What would be a good tire size to run on a 16" rim. I would like to get wider tires then stock (205). Would 215/45/16 work? or 225/40/16 be better. Its going to be put on a 16 x 7 wheel if that helps.

thanks.

It's always a good idea to match the original tire/wheel diameter in order for your speedometer to be accurate. The closest match will be 225/45-16. Here are some choices from Tire Rack.

I run 215/45/16 Falken Azenis..

wider contact patch and lower overall diameter..

which means..more grip, and lower overall gearing which means better acceleration.

while your speedo will be off, it won't be enough to matter.

don't plan on these tires lasting long though.

Here is also a tire size calculator that will help.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

just enter your stock tire size, and the size you plan on buying...it will give you the stats on both.

thanks for your input. I will consider the falkens since I guess every one rates them well. I was stuck between that and the Yoko Paradas....

werd.

I have both Azenis and Paradas..

They don't even compare, the Paradas feel like damn snow tires.

even though the Paradas are 17, and the Azenis are 16's the Azenis are still more stiff.

dunlop sp 9000 are the best!!! stock size is fine you wont slide or lose traction unless you peelout and we all know thats loses speed.
