sleeves opinions.....GE or RS....any deals???
i'm lookin to get my gsr block sleeved, but it seems that ge wnats like 975 for it bored and honed, and rs machine works wants 913 bored and honed, also rs sleeves are open deck, but i've heard that jo jo has been running 9's on a magnum block, wich is the open deck one.....any opinions, or does anyone know of any deals?? groupbuy maybe?
its all personal opinion. they are all good if installed correctly. rs says a 2 week wait..which now probably will be atleast a month. ge, very good quality and good customer service. id go ge. i did go ge.
In regards to open deck or closed. It depends on whether you're going to go forced induction or all motor. Also depends on whether or not this is a daily driver. I just recently dropped my block off at GE... They have a lot of experience, and so far excellent customer service. The turn around time is about 5-6 weeks. Their prices are pretty competitive.
I thought I saw a tread on here about them running a special on sleeving... I would keep searching. They also post on here quite a bit so look for them if you have questions or give them a call.

ya i called golden eagle today, and had them quote me out on a block/rods/piston combo. and they wanted like 1860 for it, and i talked to rs machines today also, they said they would cut me a deal on the block, and do the rods pistons for 1680.......i asked GE if they would meet that or if they were gonna have some kind of deal......they said no, but about open or closed deck, i talked to the guy at rs and he said that jo jo was running a magnum block, without any problems last season.....not sure if this is true or not, but he said that block supports 600+hp and it is open deck......i just want to get something together that is reliable that doesn't break the bank, i know it's not gonna be cheap though
I personally like GE sleeves, but Wil (exospeedAMcrx) is having a groupbuy on sleeved blocks and rod and piston combo's, check out the Fi classifieds forum, hope this helps.

Open or Closed Deck debate again I see.
Hrmness...
Sorry Jinx, if you want me to remove it, I can. +500hp on stock block.
I don't think he's running a block guard from what I've heard in the past.
It's all in tuning.
