I just installed my clutchnet stage 1 clutch (what a b*tch!). When we started it up, all we heard was clunking...engine ran fine. The clunking came from the tranny. We immediately stopped running the car and turned it back on. We did this three times then we finally just started it and left it on. The clunking sound eventually went away. After a couple of test drives, no more noise. Is this normal? I still hear the clunking every now and then either when clutch is depressed to change into gear.

Also, my clutch pedal is SOFT as hell. We bled the clutch and it still hasn't gotten any stiffer. This thing is probably 50% softer than stock! Is my slave cylinder gone or do I just need to bleed it some more?

Any help is appreciated.

When I installed my type R clutch set my clutch got reallllllllllllllyyyyyyyy soft.....almost to the point where I couldn't even feel the thing engage. But, It was only normal and you'll get used to it...as for the clunking, could be an improper install somewhere...I can't be too detailed cuz I don't know what it sounded like...but if it went away, maybe it was nothing....just drive it and see what happens.

 

I don't know, I don't think the soft clutch thing is right. I don't have any suggestions currently, but I'd keep looking for a solution. -C

 

Okay, after 100 miles of driving, the clunking I heard before is definitely gone. Perhaps that's what happens while the surface starts to break in? Just a guess.

The clutch got a little stiffer...to the point where I don't mind it being soft. Still, I'd like it to be stiffer than stock. Supposedly, this clutch was supposed to be 40% stiffer...I guess they meant softer? I'll wait and see...

Anyone else want to put in their $.02?

 

Just FYI, after I installed my Type-R clutch...the pedal felt softer than stock as well...but it grabbed ok.
