OT: Got reservation for Hawaii, how do I get around?

OT: Got reservation for Hawaii, how do I get around?
I got the reservation for Aug. 23-28, 6 days-5 nights for $497 at Ohana Waikiki Hobron-air/hotel included.
Should I rent a car or take taxi?
I heard the bus is pretty sufficient.
I am thinking of doing my own "tour." Where should I visit? I don't know if 5 full day is too much to spend on one island.
Here are the list of places I want to visit.
-Pearl Harbor (saw the movie now want to see the real place)
-Polynesian center
-Waterfall
-????? suggestion ??? please
