my exhaust manifold doesnt seem like its going to work with my car. from researching the h23 to h22 swap, i was not aware this was going to be the case. does a vtec prelude require a different exhaust manifold than a non vtec?

 

yes it does, i don't believe the bolt patterns line up. let me know if you need one, i have my stock h22 manifold, the other piece (the flex pipe) is shot though.

if you buy the swap will the down pipe fromt he h23 fit the h22 header that should come with it?

You shoud get both with the swap.

 

If you do not get the downpipe with the swap just buy a header like I did with my h22a swap. I used a 97 engine but ordered a header for the 92-96 and it fit perfectly.
