I blew up my ITR engine last weekend during a 90min race !!! Help wanted
Hi,
I need to replace my race car's engine , the 4th cylinder is totaly wrecked. No more valves , no more piston , no more connecting rod. A hole in the block.
I was racing and was reveing around 8.500 rpm when it happened and all the oil on the header . These was so mutch smoke on the track from my car that they had to stop the race for a few minutes.
Does a B20 engine (prelude) fit on a ITR gearbox and will it fit into my ITR ?
Who can help ?
All info is welcome.

Why would you even WANT to use a B20 from an old *** prelude? Just find a B20 from a CR-V and put it on the ITR head assuming that wasnt what blew.
Hi ,
I am new in this matter , does a CR-V block accepts the ITR gearbox and ITR head ?
Do I need to put other pistons in the CR-V block to keep up with the ITR HP ?
Who has more info on this, thanks
Douglas

you can not use the old prelude motor [b20whatever] - you can however use CRV motors, the 2.0L ones [b20z, b20b..]
for more info try

If you have the block out might as well rebuild it, although I think I'd rather do an LS/VTEC motor because of the thicker sleeves and the ability to use OEM honda pistons...

If it was a stock engine in good shape, then I'll bet on oil starvation. 90 minutes on track is enough to burn 1/2 a quart if you're running hard.
edit: do you know how much you went on track with?

See http://www.importbuilders.com for information regarding B20 VTECs - they have lots of dyno plots too.
B20 VTEC will have more torque for the track - but you lose some of the nice aspects of the B18C like oil squirters and such.

I believe you can swap over the oil squirters from the R, but I don't know for sure. I think the girdle on the B20s isn't quite as beefy as the R. About the Prelude... you can actually take the crank from the Prelude and build a stroker motor. If you use the CRV B20 block you can get seriously high displacement! But I've heard nothing but problems from people who do that. I guess it depends on your budget and how often you want to replace blown motors...
