Default Exhaust leak..need info.

What up kids.. i was tryin to figure out what this raspy noise was coming from my exhaust so i took it to meineke to get it up on a lift.
my friend and the mech found a hole in my flex pipe, a little smaller than a finger nail they said. and they found that the gasket b/t cat and b-pipe was burnt out.
my question is, how should i go about repairing it on a strict budget? i know i can score a gasket from honda, but what should i do about the damn flex pipe.. dare i say.. pace setter header to hold me over til i get actual cash?

dont see why you need a "honda" gasket.. try another kind from any exhaust muffler shop, they should be able to get you one..

I have a horrible exhaust leak also. Hopefully its just a gasket that can be replaced but I cant find where it is.

I doubt duct tape would last long on an exhaust pipe.

What about getting an exhaust repair kit to hold you over until you can do something about it? THey're like 5 bucks and seal the hole up nicely for a while.

Pep Boys, Advanced Auto Parts, Autozone.... just your neighborhood auto parts store. It's essentially a layer of insulation with a sheet of screen on either side and some sealer that comes with it. you wrap it around the pipe and use the clamps it comes with to tighten it down.

Ray, take it to the Meineke on Brighton Henrietta Townline road. I had the same problem and they had this goop like crap that they put on the hole on the flexpipe. It is not a permanent fix but it should hold up for a while. And do not waste your money on a pacesetter header, just deal with it until you can save up for a good quality header.

If you take it to an exhaust shop they can cut and weld a new flex pipe on. My sisters BF had this done and it cost him about $150. Still a lot but better than the $700 Honda wants for it. When I had my leak there I tried every patch they make. Everything broke in a day or 2. Also killed my O2 sensor so I would get it fixed ASAP.

yea i dont even have 150 to spend on it..i guess i will save up for a kamikaze (heard they were better than dc for the h23).
Amer, i did go out to meineke, the guy suggested ordering a new part instead of patching it up.
Munscher/KTeller8, i got the wrap and will put it on tomorrow when i get some time. Thanks.

no problem man, hope it helps.. at least for a while

Look on the bright side... at least you're not like me, running open headers an hour to and from work everyday until i get my new exhaust to fit right.
