Default B-series..should b stand for "buddy"..well please help me out b-series b16a buddies!~

i have a 91 hb si with a jdm b16a with a pwo ecu. some reason my v-tec is not kicking in, once i get aobut 6,000 rpm the check engine light comes on and throws the 21. i have the hasport v-tec wire harness( i also made one to try it out but it still didn't work) i check over where the pins should be in the plugs. my firend is gettin his pwo ecu in a couple of days n i'm goin to try his. what else should i look for?

Code 21 = Variable Valve Timing & Valve Lift Electronic Control Solenoid Valve (VTEC Solenoid Valve)

Take it apart and clean the screen out inside of it. Then reset your ECU. See if this helps.

Unbolt the solenoid from the head. You'll see the screen immediately . To clean it just remove it and rub it down, or run some oil through it.

If you are 100% sure your vtec wiring is correct, I suggest trying a diff. known good vtec solenoid on your engine.

i tried cleaning it out with the throttle body cleaner where the screen was and every thing, it still don't kick in but now the check engine lights come on at about 6,000 rpm.and yeah i'm for sure the wiring is right.

run 12v directly to the solenoid, and it should produce a noticable click. Thats the easiest way to see if its opening. If you hear it clicking, then chances are its your wiring.

maybe you mixed up the sensors , one is vtp and the other is vts . on e is for the switch and one is for the solenoid

go here:
http://www.acute.f9.co.uk/crx/...s.htm
download the "VTEC" supplement..
{It is in adobe acrobat which is a pain,but all the help you need is contained within}
After downloading;go to page 5-32 for a troubleshooting flowchart..
