Times for stock del Sol Si?
Just wondering if anyone here has an idea as to what I might expect to run at the track with my new del Sol Si (5 speed) completely stock. No stripping of the interior, street tires, no bolt ons. Anyone know?
It's really going to come down to your driving. I would say a pretty good time for a stock del sol si would be a 16.0. If this is your first time going to the track, don't expect to be able to pull a time like that. If you do, great job. But launching at a track takes a little getting used to. Its different from the street so even if you do a lot of street racing, you might not do so well your first time out.
Yes, this would be my first time at the track, and I doubt that I would be able to pull the best time possible out of the car simply because I am still quite new to stick.
My friend who is really good at track racing (he owns a Celica GT-S) says that I drive pretty well and that he is going to help me out some with learning how to race the car the right way. I'll take his word for it since he is running some damn good times in his car for the area (hot, humid FL which I am sure is only going to hurt my ET even more). As for launching, that is the part that scares me the most, the shifting, I have that down pretty well, it's the launching that worries me since I don't think my tires are the best. But, if I can break into the 16's (I know that's a low expectation), I will be happy.

Word, I understand it's completely stock, and like you said, I really shouldn't expect much. But the reason I want to run the car in the first place is the fact that after I do a swap and mod the car a little more, I want to break out my first timeslip and see how far I've come.
