Help car hesitating
I'm running uberteg ecu, 440cc injectors, stock fuel pump and fpr, t3/t4 turbo at 8 psi. The car had been running good for about 2 weeks and now its sputtering out of boost at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. It never sputters in boost only out of boost. I have my plugs gapped at .030. Also when the car is idling the rpms will drop down real low then jump back up. I put new plugs in when this started to happen and it ran fine for one day. Last time I was driving it I downshifted to like 3rd gear to slow down and the car let out a big backfire. Are these classic symptoms of my car running real rich?
this is the exact same thing that is happening to me. everyone keeps telling me that it is becuase i am running the AFC hack... well it seems like that cant be true becuase there are a lot of people on this board that are running the hack and it runs well for them. i run my gap for the plugs at .30 and i have an intank, fuel reg, and rail and my fuel is at 40 psi. i ran into JRSCIVIC98 on this board and he hooked me up with his friends AIM and he gave me all the settings for my AFC, thanks again
, but i seem to still get that hesitation. usuallly around 10-0 vac and a little in 1-2 pounds of boost. when i stomp on the peddle the car rips and i can smoke most people around here, but it really sucks when i am just cruising and the car sounds like it is missing. i am think of running colder plugs to see if that will help, but it is really starting toi **** me off.
any one know how to solve this problem?

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=137901&page=1 with this setup with the afc u don't need the check valves or missing link hooked up it works well
I have a re-programmed ecu with 440cc injectors. The stock fuel pump is good for 280 hp, plus the car is running realllllllllllyyy rich. All the walboro fuel pump would do is make the problem worse.

sounds like u r fouling out ur plugs. hummm uberteg chips suck maybe?
you could take them out once a day and clean them. that might help.
is there anyway u can tune the uberchip?

does it do this all the time or just after boosting
could be your stock FPR is maxed out and leaving excess pressure in the rail resulting in too much fuel... just a thought ive had lately about hesitation

The car has just began to hesitate within the last three days. Also the hot weather has just started up. I've noticed when the weather is warm the car will hesitate. However, last night when I was driving home (probably 45 degrees) the car didn't hesitate at all. It will only hesitate out of boost or 1-2 psi in boost. It doesn't do it all the time. When I pulled the plugs they were a little black, plus my tail pipe is really black. I have the s-afc but I haven't hooked it up yet. After a couple of days of thinking what I should do, I think I'm going to sell the ecu and s-afc and just get a standalone. For the mean time I'll go back to my fmu, missing link, and inline setup. So if anyone wants an uberteg ecu and s-afc let me know. I liked the ecu its just that within a year I see myself buying a standalone. So I'm going to start saving now.
Yep, your car is running rich. It's the classic symptoms... I mean, just listen to what you are saying. Black plugs... changed them out and it ran fine for one day.. (until they fouled up again cuz it's rich)... and it's been happening a lot since it's gotten hotter out... cuz hot air equals less oxygen in the air hence less oxygen to mix with the gas... hence more gas left behind unburnt... backfire... black plugs... etc. Uberteg's chip doesn't seem to implement feedback from the intake air temp sensor to offset for changing weather conditions. <- my guess... probably right.

Why does everyone just quote stuff on this board. Some runs the stock pump and it's obviously that all of a sudden. STANDALONE OR ANY OTHER SYSTEM THAT RUNS BIG INJECTORS WITH STOCK FUEL PRESSURE DOESN'T WARRANT AN AFTERMARKET PUMP.... most of the time.

JRSCcivic98---->thanks a lot for hooking me up with your friend, he helped me out a lot. i was actually running lean on my settings for the AFC.
i was having this same problem. sometimes the car would hesitate and sometimes it wouldn't. usually it would start hesitating at 1-2 psi and usually around 2000-3500 rpm. my settings are kinda weird for the afc.
for WOT:
1k-3k = -40%
3.5k-4.5k = -39%
5k= - 38%
6k = -38%
7k = -37%
8k = -36%
at patial throttle:
1k -2k = -30%
2.5-8k = -25%
vtec is set for 5700k
and the change over is at 10% and 25%
the car is still running a little rich but i think if i drop the fuel pressure to 35psi instead of 40psi i will lean it out enough to get rid of the heistation. the car runs extremely better. no sputtering just a little rich.
on a side note: right after i did this settings change i was driving to my friends shop all happy and lovin my car. then i get off the freeway and go to rip on it a little and guess what no power. chills go down my soine and i almost start to cry. NOOOO. i killed the engine with those settings. pop the hood. charge pipe blew off the TB. lol wipe the tears away from my eyes and walk into the shop and start to brag.
thanks for the help with the AFC settings JRSCCivic98

Cool, glad to know my friend was able to help you out. He's much more intune with settings for the VAFC hack since he's still using it on his car and finds new tricks with it every day. As for myself, I'm using a PowerFC so if anyone has any questions about that on a car let me know. We also have a PowerFC chat group on yahoo.com if anyone is interested in joining.
Happy for your success.

I like my PowerFC way more then a Hondata, but then again I've never had a Hondata. I do have a friend that has one and I'd pick my PowerFC over it anyday. If you search you'll see my input on a lot of PowerFC vs. brand-x standalones. There are pros and cons to any system, but if I was turbo (not supercharged) I could even control boost with my PowerFC.
All I have to say is... "Look at my Avatar!"
