WTF is this?
Ok, I thought everything was worked out with my ZC, but now I've got a new trick going on.
The engine seems to run fine, but I've got an annoying check engine light coming on. The light only comes on when in 3rd or 4th gear (I haven't been able to verify yet if 2nd or 5th will do it too) at about 2k rpm. Now, it only comes on if I'm cruising at a steady pace with the throttle at about 30% or so. If I accelerate right thru the 2k band it doesn't happen. If I'm coasting back down thru, it doesn't happen. In addition, it takes a 1/2 block or so generally for the light to come on. Now for the strange part. The light will go back out once the clutch has been depressed. It doesn't matter if I shift or not, push the clutch in and the light goes out. I plan on trying to reproduce this later today and check to see if I'm getting an ECU code, but as far as I'm aware, once the check engine light has come on, it's supposed to stay on until the car's been shut down.
The car's been to my local Honda/Acura specialist just before I changed to this ECU (the old one was messed up - the check engine light came on any time the car was moving, but wouldn't give any codes.) and he said that everything seemed good, all wiring checked for polarity and current on the wiring harness, timing's adjusted....the only thing I'm not sure about is if they checked the fuel pressure, but I don't know if fuel pressure could be at issue here.
Anyone have any ideas how to get rid of this annoying problem?
Thanks,
Eric

did you use the zc distributor or the single cams, caus e the single cams distr has the crank sensor set to advance the timeing a little more since the single cams need more, and this pre detination may be messin with your o2's readings, my b16 does this somtimes, it shouldnt hurt you much, check for the codes though, it may give you a 4long 3short, or maybe a 9 short blinks, those are crank position, and fuel sys.
good luck

Well, can see how that could be a problem but....
I'm using an 89 Teg Distributor and a ZC crank sensor, so that's not it...
As soon as I'm off work I'm going to try and reproduce it again while the ECU is out so that I can see if it's tossing any codes.

Hmm, no ideas from anyone yet, but I thought I'd add this info....
I'm easily able to duplicate the check engine light any time out, but the ECU isn't throwing any codes. Even if I jumper the ECU to dump any errors in the memory, nothing happens.... (I'm pretty sure I'm doing this right - just use a paperclip to jump the two connections on the blue connector under the right corner of the glovebox...)
In any case, I'm at a loss with no code to go by...
