Default Resetting the ECU?

I searched, but just want to be certain how to reset the ecu. Im going to be installing some stuff this weekend and would like to know the "proper" way to reset the ecu... would disconnecting the battery for a few minutes do the trick? Thanks.

unplug power and plug it back in.. i don't think ecu has backup so no need to wait for minutes.

I've heard various procedures but they are all pretty much the same (just a matter of how long you leave the neg. battery terminal off).
This is what I do and my car always seems to run a bit smoother after I do this:

-unbolt neg. battery terminal
-leave off for 5 minutes...some say longer though
-bolt back on and start the car
-let idle for ~1 minute (do not have any electronics/accessories on during this time..and do not touch the gas pedal)
-shut the car off and turn it back on again...you are ready to roll

there no need for rituals, ecu will readjust on its own.. and there should be no need to reset ecu in the first place unless you have some cel error code. i know it adjsut idle - without being reset, just may take several startups as it adjusts.. new rsx ecu has 5 maps that interchangable based on temp., but they don't change, that why we have to tune to compensate for upgrades.

Use a jumper at the service connector and pull the 15 amp fuse under the hood (radio and ECU). Yes, you will need to have your radio code handy. (Check in your owners manual or on a sticker under the ashtray... that's where I hear most dealers put them.)

Just turn on the ignition and the ECU will reboot. I let it idle a couple minutes, but you can shut it off and replace the fuse and disconnect the jumper.

Done.
