Default Resetting the ecu--is it necessary to do it manually or will it do itself?

I just did some stuff to my car because of codes. I didnt reset the ecu, but I was curious if it was necessary. I ended up doing it, but hypothically, is it necessary?

will the car self adjust or do i have to do it manually?

If you reset your ecu already, it will take care of the rest next time you start it up.

I suggest anytime you add stuff to your car you always should reset the ecu.

Agreed. When I got my car the idle fluctuated. The previous owner put on an intake and a glass pack and never reset the ECU. After the reset it's solid.

You can reset the codes using a scan tool or disconnecting power to the ECU for a minute via disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery or taking out the ECU fuse. I understand you've already done it, but just for anyone else's reference.

If your check engine light was still on then yeah, it needs a reset to clear the codes.

yeah..i replaced the o2 sensor...drove it for like 500 miles and when i went to check for the error code, it was still there----i didnt reset it, but i did now and its cool.

now that ive restted and drove it 300 miles (a tank), it hasnt appeared anymore.

i think the o2 sensor fixed check engine light number 1 and 43
