Two Questions
1) has anyone ever used any race gas in their R - meaning 100+ octane rating? If so - what were the results - was it safe and effective?
2) Other than getting a cold air intake, what is the best possible way to reduce the air temperatere ingestion into the throttle body? Insulation of some sort?
Thanks in advance.

I use it fairly often. Whenever I go racing. I've thought about running it all the time. If I buy a 55 gallon card I can get it for $3 even, and I only drive about 7000 miles a year since they opened the new train line near my house.
My car likes it. It runs smoother, but I don't think faster. I can run stock timing under boost with it though so I guess it's indirectly giving me more power.

1. Racing gas wont give you any gains unless you are running fairly high compression and what not.
2. People have tried that thermal wrap stuff on their CAI's but i dont think its really effective.

1. dont use racing fuel if it isnt needed. stock motor dun need it. no gain. compression and detonation determine octane needed. also, be careful when you run your cat and use racing petro, you might be feeding your cat leaded fuel which will kill the cat.
2. get that plastic intake manifold gasket. it isolates the head from the manifold to keep the convection of heat down. also, the spoon venturi plate thing does the same and is said to give you more torque. makes me wonder if a carbon fiber intake manifold will run cooler than a highly conductive aluminum manifold...and you guys are skeptical when you see plastic intake manifolds! sheesh, its a step in the right direction. cooler air!!!
