OT: Which engine in 850i??
Saw a burgundy BMW 850i on my ride home tonight, bling-bling'n on some big-*** chrome rims. Anyway, there were "V12" badges on the c-pillar that looked eerily familiar to the badging on 600 class Mercedes'. Did that car come with a V12, or only the V8? Was there an 840i??
Not calling bushit yet, because I can't remember. Damn old age

The 840 has the 4.4L V8. The 850 DID have a V12. I believe it's 5.0L but BMW has a habit of sometimes badging their cars with not quite the right displacement (see the 840 or 740).
Jack - did it carry that badging on the decklid? The csi designation? This was definitely just an "850i". One of my friend's neighbors back in the day had one, but I did not recall it having V12 badges. 750's don't have that, do they?

J00 mean this kaa?
Only the M-B have the "V12" on them. The Beamers have no cylinder designation. Me thinks.

850i=5.0L V-12
850Ci=5.4L V-12
850CSi=5.6L V-12
I think...
the 850i is actually quite slow...15.7 in the 1/4 mi
the Csi on the other hand can rip off about a 14 flat, these cars weigh a crap load

I saw a dyno sheet of an 850 at a dyno shop...not sure which model 850.
Peak HP was RIGHT at redline.
Power was totally linear...the end result is what looked like a triangle. A straight line of power from bottom left to top right. It made like 300whp or something. (MAD power).

The 840 had the 4.0L V8 until 96 when the displacement was increased to 4.4L. The 850CSi was produced from 1994 to 1996 and had a 5.6L producing 372hp and 402 lb/ft. The 850ci started in 1991 with a 5.0L V12 producing 296hp and 322 lb/ft and died in 1997 with a 5.4L V12 producing 322hp and 361lb/ft. None of the 8 series cars were ever big sellers for BMW.
A-ha! So he was just Big Pimpin'. I thought so... The bling bling sort of gave it away...
So what do we call expensive German rice?
