Default Groove in Crankshaft fro Oil Pump Seal?

I am in the process of rebuilding my B18C5. I spun a rod bearing and messed up the stock crank, so I got a used JDM crank of the net. When inspecting the used crank that I got, I noticed that there was a groove in the end where the oil pump seal would go. Taking it to my local machine shop, they told me to find a different oil pump seal. I also got a 2nd opinion from another machinist and he tols me to use a speedy sleeve, which is a very thin, stong sleeve that will go over the end of the crank so that it is even again.

With rebuilding my motor, reliability is my biggest concern. The motor will rev to 9400 on track days or when I beat the crap out of it, and will be built using the following components:

B18C5 w/ RS Machine Sleeves
84mm Endyn Rollerwave Pistons (12.3:1 CR)
Crower Econo Rods
Polished JDM ITR Crankshaft

My question here is:
What should I do about the groove in the crankshaft?
I looked at my old crankshaft, and it seens to have the same groove in it from the oil pump seal. Is this a common problem? What are you people that rebuild race motors frequently doing for this? I have all the components to rebuild my block, but want to deal with this problem, if it iseven a problem.

Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Do you have any pics? Just to make sure, your not referring to the keyway for the oil pump gear and crank pulley, are you?

can't see the got damn pic. the groove is around the snout of the crankshaft? that's the only oil pump seal i can think of that comes in contact with the crank. does the groove have dimension to it? as in how deep is it?

I have never used one of those sleeves but that sounds like an option. I have always just installed the seal SLIGHTLY not all the way in. As you can see on the crank you purchased, the seal only contacts the crank in a very thin spot. Just make sure your seal is slightly in front of that.
