jg edelbrock short shifter any good?
didnt even know they made one...would just recommend going w/the skunk2, many people seem to like them. My b&m would be good cept for the annoying rattle :/
I have the Edelbrock short shifter, in the hard anodized color. I love it! Of course, mine's in a civic....but it will fit either car. Just depends on which rod and spacers you use when you install it. Edelbrock provides the hardware to fit either.
I have a DC Sports SS and I love it. It has been on my car for about a year now and no problems. But in regards to the jg edelbrock I haven't heard much about it which usually tells you something.
I liked the design of it because the shifter sits toward the driver side a little for a more comfortable shifting, especially for people with shorter arm.

Thanks....what a difference boost makes! The piggyback fuel computer was updated slighty since I dyno'd it and the MSD ignition was installed, so I am curious if I am making more power now or not.
With how the shifter sits in the car, I can almost shift just by keeping my wrist in the center of the shift pattern and just flick my wrist. I love the hard anodize as well, it doesn't get scratched up at all. Its been installed in the car for about three months now.

hey, Maruader
Do you have any problem going into gears? Do it hit the exhaust pipe? I have only heard bad things about the generic one.

When I had the stock exhaust on the car the counterweight part of the shift rod would occasionally rattle against the heat sheilding of the exhaust. To get the short shift pattern, the shifter is a little longer on the bottom side of the pivot ball, where on the drivers side it gets shorter. Once the cat-back exhaust went it, it gave more room between the counterweight and the exhaust pipe and I no longer have any problem with any kind of rattle.
When the stock exhaust was still on the car, I adjusted the exhaust on the hanger which made the rattle much better, it would hardly make any noise.
The only time I have problems getting into gear is with first gear before the fluid warms up. Once everything is up to operating temp it shifts excellent. Of course that's only downshifting when coming to a stop. Upshifting when its cold is still no problem and nice and smooth.
A short shifter is a real nice add-on that makes a driver happy. Gives a more high performance feel instantly to the driver. That's also why I love the Sparco steering wheel. The shift **** does get warm when its hot outside and the vehicle is doing a lot of street driving. If I was to drive in hot weather a lot, I would get a leather wrapped ****.
The Edelbrock shifter came with bushing bearings installed, and then a steel bushing that sides through there with washer spacers that go between the shifter and the fork in the shift rod. Operationally it works excellent!
If your going to be at the H-T meet at Shine Street on the 31st, I will be there with my car. You can check it you then, if you like.

Went to the junkyard today with a friend and found a edelbrock short shifter and was wondering if its rare or not i can't seem to find it anywhere but it looks really cool and can't wait to put it on
I know its supposed to be functional, but I can never get past how the Hybrid Racing and k-tuned shifter looks with my stockish looking interior. If the whole thing fit under the stock shift boot, I'd consider getting them, but I'm probably the only person that doesn't want prying eyes on my car and those short shifters just stick out way too much for my tastes.
