Default Snapped an axle today...(well at least I think I did)

Well..upon picking my car up from sitting all week..and going out for a cruise....I come upon a older man in a BMW M3...(acting...like a complete idiot) for his age that is. Anyhow..upon a 8600 rpm shift from Second to third ...and getting a really hard screach from the tires entering it.....I realize..that my luck will be a cop waiting for me..so i let off.
Come to the light..and then when turns green...I take off in a slow motion..come to see my RPM's jump up like the gears werent engaged.
Finally realizing..that something is definately wrong.
Engine ran fine..but when I would let the clutch out in gear...it would start spinnin something..make a grinding noise.
I had to have the car towed home...and didnt get to get under the car yet.
My question is..I have a 98 LSD type R motor ..(STOCK) with a stock LSD tranny with a 6 puck clutch.
How come when the driver side axle (which I think thats what it is) went out...how the other wheel didnt provide some movement to the car ..considering its LSD?

BTW ...after towing the car ..I get under the driverside and wiggle the axle...and feel it wobbling around at the connection of where the hub is.

Any help is much appreciated..and I will keep people informed as to what happened...when I get the car on jackstands

I've been there one too many times. It doesn't transmit power to the other axle because it's not a clutch pack LSD. It's just one of the characteristics of a gear type LSD. I don't fully understand how they work though. It's the same reason why our LSDs don't help much in the snow.

To me it sounds like Spyder gears.... Does it make a sound that sound slike a chain going in a circular motion hitting something? Clink Clink Clink.... i would look at the spyder gears...

Why are you running a race clutch on a stock motor?

good question..I bought the motor that way..The motor used to be Turbocharged before..and thats why he put a 6 pucker in there. All though..I hated the clutch..I must say I love the response it gives..and under abuse...I get no slippage when the car is heated up.
