Putting 18" x 7.5 or 8" rims on my buddy's 91 GS.
He's worried about rubbing on the inside of the wheel well. Anyone running any 18x8's? If so what suspension you running and does it rub at all?
I have 17x7.5 Momo Arrows wrapped w/ 215/40/17 Yoko Pareda Spce 2's and they rub during AutoX. Thats why he's worried about the 18's.
Any educated answere's welcome.

18's will rub, have you ever thought about rolling your fenders? I had VOLK III 18's on my GTI, and the tires got eaten by the fenders using AVO coil-overs. Switched to ABT 17in rims and everything was fine. Had VOLK TE37 17's on my DA6 with Eibach pro springs with no problems.
i have 18x8's dropped with tein ss and they did rub under hard cornering when i had the fronts almost tucked. when i had the stock suspension, there was no rubbing with the 18, so i just adjusted the height until i got no more rubbing. but if you want to be really low and auto X, don't get 18. although the grip and response is nice, i think i would go only as big as 16 for auto X.
These rims would be for daily driving and wet weather (we live in OR) auto x. I'm sure he just wants them for the bling bling affect but still wants to be able to auto x on them when the waether isn't being nice. (quite often given we live in OR)

i'm running 17by7 ssr integrals with 215/45 toyo fxr's and it does run a lil on the inside of the frame just a lil. it doesent really kill the tire or anything
Sukebei Oni: i'm interested in getting 18's and i noticed that you have 18x8's w/tein SS. i've also been lookin into gettin the tein SS or H&R coilovers. how's ur ride w/the 18's and what do u like/dislike about the tein SS? Also, what size tire r u running 215/35/18? And may I ask what kind of rims and tires do you have? With 18's i've been thinking about getting Volk's since they are forged and arent that heavy...
the ride with the 18's is very good. not really a ruff ride, more of a feeling of being very connected to the road. you can feel everything on the road (in a good way). they are very responsive. the teins are also very nice, since they are adjustable, the ride is not bouncy, just firm. the only problem that i had with them is that when i installed them at the recommended height, they were too low, so i had to raise them up a little, so that the wheels weren't tucked under the fender. it looked nice, but it rubbed on the fender. after i raised it, it was ok. they are very also good quality. the size difference between them and tokico's is noticeable. they are bigger in diameter and look much stronger.the rims that i have are for sale.
