Default your lsd, my lsd

a while back for the first time i rode in a honda with lsd. it was a civic with a b16 in it. when the guy would take turn his inside tire would bark or chirp. it seemed kinda wierd to me.

i have a newly installed itr engine and my wheels dont do that when i'm turning. there is a very faint drag on the inside wheel when i turn, but no chirping.

are there different types of lsds? i know that there are some phony lsd's where you are basically installing a kit to lock up both drive gears into one gear, thus NO slip at all. instead of limited slip...

just wondering, no harm in posting right?

sounds to me like the guy that had the barking tires probably had messed up axles or else he had welded the spider gears so that it was full time drive not limited slip.

Not sure what you guys are referring to. Possibly a Phantom Grip, which is not actually a limited slip diff.

Barking in turns sounds like a Spool or welded spiders. LSD should just transfer power not bark one side not the other. the LSD should see the Bark and transfer to the other tire.

at full lock my lsd binds thats just the nature of hte beast
and totally depends on how aggresssive the lsd is setup

i think they just welded the gears for 300 bucks
it was a stock clutch

I have a stock ITR LSD and on some instances, I have a little slip (bark, chirp sound) though very minimal on the inside tire.

I run Kumho 711's (I think?? The ones with the long grooves) which aren't really that sticky. On an Azenis, it should "scrub" because it's a much softer compound.
