Default new engine wont idle

I just dropped a b18b motor in. It idles fine when i turn on the car, and leave it. Bu when i drive it, and it warms up, when i come up to a stop light, it starts to choke, then 1/4 times it will die. But if it doesnt die, then it will barely survive, and go back to idling fine. Any ideas?

not a swap tech, but just trying to help out with ideas. Is the current ECU correct for the motor?

Try adjusting your idle screw.

We had this problem with a b18c-r swap a few months ago.

It turned out to be cap/rotor/coil pack in the distributor. It was also not assembled correctly. The buyer had passwordJDM check over the engine (compression test, leak down, check distributor, etc) and they must have put the distributor back together not quite right. A small piece (i can't remember what it was called) was out of place.

So, I'd say check all that stuff listed above then check inside the distributor....

I am getting a CEL, but i checked it......It is just blinking for 1 second every 3 seconds. So I assume its a number 1, which is primary A O2 sensor, which isnt hooked up, so that is expected. I think that my fuel pressure is off, so tommorow im getting a fuel pressure regulator and guage. I have new spark plugs coming too (the ones in there are shitty). The distributor wasnt dessembled, so it shouldnt be that. I will compression and leak down test this weekend. Thanks

Bill

Plug in the O2 sensor. It could be the cause, but even if it isn't put it in and that will be one less thing to diagnose.

I have b18b exhaust manifold, and civic EX header downpipe, so there is no bung for an o2 sensor. I am going turbo soon, so i will get one put into my downpipe, or get it custom done.

You definitely have a distributor problem.
