Default idle problems...check engine

i have a 95 si h/b. it idles really low...sometimes it even dies. when i drive the car for a period of time, check engine comes on and i guess the car runs on safe mode or something like that....the cars just boogs, like too much fuel. i tried checking what the code was but all it gave me was nothing i could read(the light just twitches...too fast to read). can anyone explain that or give me a solution to my problems? HELP...

Try pulling code again but clean the connector and pin with rubbing alcohol.

open your distributor cap, check distributor rotor - if you see the metal part fried/rusted, it may be the problem.

Check vacuum lines. Vac leaks can cause low idle.
