Cant get the "silencer" out of my Apexi-N1 HELP!
I have had the exhaust on for a couple weeks now, one of which the car was in the body shop so it was being driven. Now i cant get the "silencer" out of the muffler....any ideas how. I got the lil allen key bolt out but it wont budge.
I had the same problem. If you arn't going to use the silencer again take a pair of vice grips and clamp them on to the silencer. Then hit the vice grips with a hammer and it will come out. This is how i did it. Just an FYI, i gained 8 hp on the dyno by removing the silencer.
oh now you are putting banannas in it huh? lol .
and i cant get a pair of vise grips on it ......ive tried its in there too tight.....i couldnt even get a damn tooth pick in between the silencer and the muffler

get something in there to pull on it , try vice grips, or needlenose pliers.
also if you notice where it bolts in there is an empty hole now , stick something in there and try to carefully pry that bitch out , if you mess it up i have an extra one , i will part with for a few bucks, i never used mine, they suck

far throw to tx but ok
seriously i need a silencer. 3" piping, no cat, and only one resonator=bacon
you can try pulling it with two hooks or bent rods. just stick them in the opening until they reach the end of the pipe and pull out.
itr what's the diameter on the silencer you have?

Don't worry quite a few people have had this problem.
My suggestion is to start the car and continually pull on the silencer as the exhaust is warming up. The exhaust should heat up a little quicker than the silencer and it should come right out.

If you didnt get it off yet, try using pliers and pull on it. Also, do this while the car is on. rev it up alittle or drive around for like 20 minutes untill the exhaust gets hot. Then you keep tugging at it and eventually it will budge alittle. Keep pulling and pulling and BAM! it will come right off. Took me about 15 minutes to get off not including the 20 mins of driving around.
WEll I got it out FINALLY!!......not only is it much louder but.....I took it to the track and ran a 15.7 so it knocked off some serious time! Im much happier now!
