Today my friend put a header on his 00 si. Well we decided to run open header. All I have to say is, I like it a LOT!!!!!! Running at idle shakes the floor, hitting vtec wakes the dead in the trunk. I don't think he ever wants to put the exhaust back on.

 

lol....enjoy it for a day or two....i know DEFINITELY did, but after the cops/fellow-motorists become annoyed, its not too fun.......open header is good, but all good things must come to an end **bolts cat-flange back up to the collector**

 

an electronic cutout would be good for you.

 

if i had $$ for an e-cutout, i'd have it done.....but i'm broke, so if i want open header, i just crawl under the car and unscrew two bolts

 

i had a friend of mine run open header...then got a 300+ ticket...

 

i did that, and after a while all i could smell was smog, i had a headache that night and it was hard for me to breathe after,

 

dumb questions but what is a electronic cutout?

 

Basically you run a Y pipe between your header and the Cat. On the lower end of the 'Y' is the header, on each tip is an opening, one goes to the cat and the other is just an opening. On the end of that you place a cutout, either mechanical or electric, or a plate just bolted on. i remember back when i ran open header for a day,...i couldnt hear my girlfriend talking to me and she was sitting right next to me,...everything in my car was vibrating,...it was dope but was getting real annoying after awhile
