Engine Management with Stock Internals
Hey again guys, I did a lot of searching, and seem to be running across the general (build engine up completely, turbo, go) response in how to manage power from our preludes. My goal was to have a quick 99 prelude, running around 13.5 daily driven. However, I recently been pushed to a point (good and bad) to buy a house. (i.e. drop a lota cash) Question here is, WITHOUT opening up our engine and messing with it, would it be possible to run below 14's, nothing above, with our stock internals. If so (besides the Nitrous setup) any tips or advice to this?
A common thing I seen is a turbo/intercooler setup left at low PSI (6~ lbsish) and I want to say a head gasket? Something about reducing compression? Anyone that might be familiar with that, please post up some knowledge for me to learn about. Another side bar, would a good fuel/computer system help the longevity of stock internals under this pressure, or is it a waste on cars that are NOT fully modded? Thanks ahead time as always!

well a low boost but you will still have problems eventually (most likely), cams, and all the other bolt ons. or a supercharger at 7psi with all the bolt ons. that should put you to the low 14's. (as long as you can drive and have a 5 spd)
i can drive lol and have a 5 speed. when you refer to low boost, what do you mean you will still have problems eventually. and is that eventually like withing the first year, or like withing 1+ years? i really need to run below 14's for my personal goal, where i live too many people have those new mustang v8s that run close to 14 stock

well if you REALLY want to run 13's/low 14's then you might as well rebuild the engine now. if not then you will be doing it after you blow the engine. you will most likely fry the ringlands, blow a piston, something like that. there is no telling when. that all depends. i have seen a 13 sec civic with stock internals, and i have seen a 0.00 second fully rebuilt lude. tunning is key. if you are on a budget, dont boost. it will cost a lot of money. do it right. there is a thread, search for the official turbo prelude thread. that should help a lot more than i can.
