Default is the weight of pauter rods that big of a deal?

im tring to decide between crower and pauter. i will be making over 500whp on 25+psi, h22. the only bad thing ive heard about pauter is the weight. does it make that much of a difference. what is the bad part, does it just lose a few hp from the extra, or does it cause premature wear on other parts?

thanks,
Vinny

I made the switch from crower to pauter recently. Yes they are heavier but I dont think at your horsepower level you should worry about the 2. They will do the job fine either one you go with.-pdang

Most of the weight is at the big end. Here are the weights on my rods i ordered for my deckplate. Keep in mind these rods are 6" long so they weight a little more than a normal off the shelf rod.

overall weight 597 grams
Big End weight 420 grams

You can see that most the weight is on the big end and that wont effect you nearly as much as the small end

We made the switch from Crower to Pauter.
Remember Pauter tells you to replace the rod bolts after every 8 torques. Probably a good rule of thumb for Crowers also.
