Default PICS Maxrev GT3040 Custom 3" downpipe New IC pipes + Welding pics

Hey all heres my new turbo

and here you will find all the other pics i took

http://home.themaestro.net/blkcrx/gt3040/index.htm

Anyway i upgraded my small t3t4 turbo to this gt3040 in hope to fix my lack of power problems iv been having... iv also upgraded my intercooler pipes from 2.25" to 2.5" as well as desiging a new 3" down pipe. My intercooler pipes are being powder coated as we speak and my car should be alive again within the next few days, then its off to the dyno to see the difference...

Had a bit of a hard time fittin the GT3040 turbo to the maxrev mainfold making it clear the radiator.. we had to relocat the radiator so it sits closer to the engine block but i think its worked out all fine...
we will finish most of the work off tomorrow i hope...

Hope ya enjoy the pics...

Regards James

was there enough clearance to mount the turbo the opposite way? I'd like to get a gt30 sometime and was wondering if it will clear. I ask you if it clears the other way b/c I want to keep my A/C, so I'd need to mount it the opposite way.

The GT3040 is a .70 on the intake side and the exhaust side is stamped on the inside as .82 on the neck of the inside.... i don't think its a .63 ( i hope not bc that’s the size of my old turbo) nar its gota be .82 its stamped .82. Ill take the turbo off and take some photo's of inside from the t3 manifold flange.

The turbo will not clear the block fitting the other way, even if you hack the hell out of it….and by rotating it 180deg I had to remove my AC and move my radiator... ill take photo's of where I moved the radiator today if we finish it all up.

As for the MIG welds yeah we were pulsing them.. well at least i think that’s what my mate did... on off on off on off... the other Intercooler pipes were done with stick welding with the oxy using as little stick as possible and in some places no welding sick was even used.

My engine is a 1.6L b16a which I rev to 9700 rpm or maybe more, fully built JE pistons (9:1) eagle rods Dalton sleaves plus all the normal things ppl do with fully built engines….i was running 20psi on my old turbo and it was just dieing in the ****, a t3t40 .60ar and .63 exhaust.

I should be on the dyno within a week and truly see how it all works now…

Regards James

Cute girl...

NE ways, I would NOT run eagle rod's up to 9700RPM. The H beam design was never meant for high rev's. If your reving that high a I beam desgin is better.

More eagles have broken on 200hp allmotor RPM screamers than on 700hp stock rev limit motors.

yeah thats my gf.. lol

hmmm crap news with regards to the eagle rods.. well currently im reving to 9200 or 9300 or so on the dyno and it seems perfect.. maybe i won't rev the extra 500rpm... just keep it at 9000rpm to be safe....

either way i hope iv made all my power before 9000rpm !! ehehe

PS just for ya bryson here's another pic.. of my gf cat...

now lets get back to talkin about cars.. lol n not girls.. lol

hehe

my mistake...i forgot.10 blades= .82 and 11 = .63..(i think )
ehehehe.
dude, we have practically the same turbo BUT my exhaust "area" is way different. (i have .82 a.r too)

...
wierd!(i have that lip in my exhaust housing while yours is straight) and mine has the specs on it while yours just says garret...also your exhaust outlet is longer...hmmmm
you driven with it yet?
i dont have a boost gauge in yet but damn with the .82 a/r on my 1.6l(b16) i swear im getting some boost at 3500..and it fully spools by 5k.(could be less once i tune it better) and im going through the stock cat.
hrmmm

coolness.
what are the full specs on yours?

Iv got pics on how iv got my downpipe on the car.. ill upload them in a few hours... when im at home.... eveythign fits fine... but we had to move lots of things....
the intercooler is a max rev cooler...
As for how i like the max rev mainfold its fine... but i want a full race one.. equal length mainfold to gain even more power....

Default why gas and mig?

Why did you gas weld part of your downpipe and mig the flange? Since you are dealing with mild steel, why didn't you just mig the while thing? Either way, it looks great.
