don't have a b16, i have a 18c in a ef9, and i lauch about 7000 at the track with slicks. any lower i fall below vtec. on the street i lauch about 4000-5000. granted i spin, but any lower i will bog. iu have a 1.6 so you have less torque, which i would think you need to launch higher. but i depends on tires mostly i believe

my friend has a b18c in a 92 hatch and i have a b16a in a 90 crx and he launchs at 2k and it gives a smokey show if he doesnt feather it, he has some what better tires than stock but not by much, and i launch at like 1k cause im on stock tires and my tires just get no traction but with better tires.
all though that would be so phat to launch at 7k, what does your hatch run?

i agree with crxste, sounds like your launching a bit to low, are you heating your tires?

I have a ls-vtec and I know that on the street if I dump at anything over 2500 I spin like a **** unless I feather it. Well they like to spin anyway going from first to second and they dont like to hook up at all. LOL. Thats on a set of 14' steelies with el-cheepo tires. AKA ROASTOMATICS.

I launch between 4 and 5k with my B16. Alot of it depends on the track conditiond. I've got HX wheels w/ Azenis. People think they don't wanna spin, but you need to spin. Obviously you don't wanna do a burnout. I basically try to spin just enough that it gets traction just before I'm out of first.

I stop spinning at about 7k, get my last few R's in and go on through the gears.

Just give it a try next time. Dump it at about 4k and hammer the throttle. You won't spin as much as you think you will.

You need to ride down the track with someone who is experienced. Let them show you how they launch and you'll understand. It's hard to describe and make you a believer without actually being able to show you.

I launch between 3k and 3.5k on street tires, 2.2-2.3 60' time, don't hit the gas until the tires start to hook. You'll see what I mean. 14.416 @ 97.5 mph.

I borrowed some 22X15X8 slicks on the weekend and got my best results launching at 6500 rpm. 1.98 60' time, unfortunately I hit the rev limiter a few times, so it was only a 14.2 @ 95 mph.
