Default Compression Ratio Question

What's the easiest way to raise the compression ratio in a F22b2? I think it's 8.8:1, I was thinking maybe 10.0:1 running on 93 octance. Who has experience with this? I know you can get different head gaskets and what not, but I'm looking for people that have actually done it.

Come on, there has to be a way to do it without getting into the pistons. I'm trying to avoid spending that kind of money right now!

it's a waste.......maybe a few more hp, but you'd need to remap you ecu to take full advantage, and the headgasket is the only easy way to go if you don't wanna mess with the pistons....just not worth the risk and money to me

Your stock F22B2 is a great motor to boost stock with the ultra low 8:8.1 comp ratio and the stock sleeves are STRONG

milling the head and a thin head gasket is the cheapest way to raise compression... you get what you pay for though... I dont consider this a proper way of raising compression any decent amount.

changing pistons is the right way and expensive way (like everything)... you may be needing to resleeve the block though unless you can find some usdm/ jdm pistons that are the same bore as the f22 and will raise compression.

depending on what you are trying to do... I would think about some other power adder or something than this.

I see, thing is though if I were to do all that I'd probably just end up getting into some really expensive money pit, lol, you know like sleeves, closed deck, pistons rods, then upto the head, it'd be thousands before I was done. I was just wondering if there was a cheap reliable way to raise compression, and the answer is NO, lol, thanks guys.

the f22 block doesnt need to be sleeved to accept forged pistons. just find some used pistons or something, get new rings and install them. you dont need to have closed deck if you arent gonna be sprayin or boostin

how do you figure it does not need new sleeves to accept an aftermarket forged piston/ ring set?

enlighten us please.

only way I could figure is if you find some oe pistons with the same bore and that raise the compression on the f22. BTW which those are not forged.

Actually the proper way of doing it is you need to bore match the piston to the sleeve. you can put in whatever piston you want into the motor without bore matching but then you will most likely end up with a motor that will need more work on it to restore it.

Actually, the easiest way is to call Race Engineering and order a set of their Wiseco 11:1 pistons for the stock bore F22B2 engine.

That's what I did.

I'm having a little problem right now. I don't want to discuss it until after I give the company involved a chance to remedy the situation. If they don't correct the problem to my satisfaction, I'll be having a great big show and tell party with lots of pictures.

Race Engineering is not involved; they are a great company to deal with and I recommend them highly.

Was planning the trip up to P1 racing next week, but as things stand now, I don't know if I'll make it. I'll post the numbers, good or bad, as soon as the car makes it's first run on the Dyno.
