INFO on horsepower gains on ctr intake cam on 95gsr
Sup, guys! I drive a 95gsr and I wanted to find out what kind of gains people have had installing a CTR intake cam on my motor. I've heard this setup is the cheapest and the best bang for a buck. I of course would love to run a Toda Racing Spec B cam package but it's too much for me right now. I have gotten many recomendations to run the CTR cam because its more agressive than the ITR cam. As for info on my car I have AEM CAI, AEM fuel rail, AEM pulleys, B&M fuel flo modifier, MSD 6A, MSD COIL, MSD CAP, MAGNECORES, DC 4-2-1 header, and a SKUNK2 intake manifold. My goal is to run a 13.99 1/4 E.T. of an all motor setup with no port and polishing. My best time so far is a 14.5 without the Skunk2 manifold and on a stock clutch with 73K on it!
post your time slip (1/8mile et, 1/8 mile mph, 1/4 mph, 60', elevation). If I were you, I'd get both intake and the exhaust cams. They work are a pair. I put just the ITR intake cam in my friends gsr before, it was faster, but both cams make you keep pulling to redline. BTW, the CTR intake cam has 3 deg more duration than the ITR one. -C
you might want to get an exhaust too....you're flowing pretty good until you hit the exahaust....looks to be a limiting factor...you'd could probably get away with a Type R exhaust on it...
also try some slicks and( i was told by some race boys) drop the middle section of your exhaust it should really help you i was told .also run vx or cxwheels less drag.if scared of slicks do drag raidials . have fun
Sorry guys, I'm not organized when I comes to timeslips. I believe I ran my 14.5 at a mid94-mid95mph. Unfortunately sears doesn't keep the 1/8 mile sensor on during weds night drags. So I couldn't tell you my best 1/8 mile is. As for for sixty ft. I was running 2.1s that day on Nitto dot radials. Yah, I know they were drag radials but I couldn't better a 2.24 60ft and a 14.7 on street tires. My car would spin street tires all day launching past 3000 rpm. As for my elevation I don't know that but I can tell you I race at sears point raceway. I did race last night though. Unfortunately dropping in my skunk2 mainfold made me lose some top end. I don't know what the f*#k happened! I thought I was supposed to lose low but gain top end. My third gear doesn't pull as strong anymore! I ran a 14.74@ 93mph. The only thing I can think was that I might be running lean on the top end. If any guys think I should raise my fuel pressure or give a me a fuel pressure I should be running at with all my parts let me know. I don't wanna spend the money for some dyno testing to make this manifold work for me! Peace-out!
If I ever get my car to the Dyno I would give you some insight on what gains you would get. I have the ITR and CTR cams so far, just by driving it I feel a real difference.. it just pulls so well... but i'll update you when I get the dyno done.
Rite on MAN! E-mail your dyno results to me if you can. By the way are you running a reprogrammed ecu so you can rev higher and what kinda header you running with those cams?

Sorry, I would say Rite on GRL but that sounds too gay! You know what I mean! A girl driving a 95gsr? With CAMS? Sounds pretty sexy to me! Be even sexier when I see Those dyno results! LATE!
InteGRL, I was just browsing your site and you also have portflow P&P, did you get that done after the cams? If so, did you notice a lot of difference?
LOL D-BOY: when I read the first post my jaws just flapped open then I read the next one and said oh ok.. haha. I haven't reprogrammed my ECU from what I heard the ECU is fine and just readjusts to the new toys after a couple of runs/days.
GSRacer: I just bought a V-AFC today. Used off of someone on here. I get to check it out before he recieves the payment.

um..."readjusts to the new toys after a couple of runs/days"?? i don't think so...
you guys are talking about two different things. after you throw something on like a CAI or a throttle body you want to reset your ECU (there's a procedure for this that involves pulling a fuse, etc.).
raising your rev limit (using a different chip or hondata or haltech, etc.) can be benificial, depending on where your power curve drops off or if you want to finish your run while holding it in third.
