Default B16A turbo vs B18B turbo?

Ok I was thinking about this today:
Say you have the same car, same Turbo kit, same boost, which setup would win in the 1/4 mile? Which setup would you prefer and why?
My initial thought was that the B18B would win because of the torque and displacement advantage, but on the other hand, the B16 has the better top end with the 8000 rpm redline. I couldn't come to a conclusion on my own so I decided to ask you guys! Any help is appreciated.

even though it has more tq initially, it aint that much more , the b16 has 30 or so more hp already, once the turbo starts spooling and vtec hits along with the gearing being just right , say buh bye.

from what i've heard on the board, if you were to boost both motors, with the same boost, the b16 would win, basically because of its better flowing vtec head. However, because of the low compression of the b18b you could boost higher safer then the b16. Just to note, with higher compression, does'nt mean you can't boost as hard, it just require more tunning. The higher compression ratio that you have, the less ROOM FOR ERROR there is. The lower, the more easilier it is with mistakes and fuel promblems.

Oh, sorry to bring up old garbage! I searched but couldn't find anything conclusive. So the B16 would end up winning? That's really interesting! Thanks for the help guys

There is no answer to this question unless you have two dyno graphs to compare...

Either motor will be strong, and output will depend more on tuning than the base motor. Personally I'd go B18B since its cheaper to get, and cheaper to replace if you blow it up.

I thought that the B18B was cheaper originally but after calling around it looks like I can get a JDM B16 Sir11 swap for the same price as an LS swap! So now I don't know which engine to buy!

I have a B16A2 and think it is a sweeeet little engine. Personally I would go for the B16 anyday... I reckon u should be looking at 13s with that setup on the B16.

not sure how ityll be a good match...your lighter hatch with a better motor then his d16z6 in a heavier coupe...you should own him bad
