Default interested in or run a JRSC?

just wondering who you are out there??? This is a FI forum, but seems dominated by the turbo gurues.... Anyway, because it seems as though there are so few of us, it might be useful if we can contact eachother through AIM also.... my aim name is zack002115 if you are using a JRSC and wanna lend your knowledge or are intrested in setting one up and need some suggestions, please leave your AIM screen name... thanks.

I've got a JRSC on my 97 GSR/93 Hatch hybrid. So far I love it. I'm in DC and i'm "between jobs" right now so i've got lots of time on my hands. If you need any help just let me know.

I don't have AIM but if you IM me here i'll get back to you eventually

Good lord keebler what is taking so long???

haha hey I have a JRSC type R kit on my B16 in my 89 Crx si. and you want to talk bout fast. fun little car. ayway I think my aim is the same as my e-mail right so I guess it would be MyrlinVII@aol.com. I would be more than happy to answer questions you have on this setup, or anything else you needto know, I have been helping keebler along with his, and I hope/hoped it will be done soon, I do have an mov. of a rather neat driveby of my car at about 10lbs of boost. sounds very nice.
on a side note, I was at the track last night and when you put a 2-step on a supercharged car, everybody looks and then bows down to your mightyness. ahahah
serousily it sounds really realy mean on the 2-step.
rock on all

I suppose I should go ahead and explain what I'm setting up... I just recently bought a 94 GSR w/ 156K miles on it. Although the car has high miles, it has a ACT stage II racing clutch and a ITR LSD tranny (both of which have less than 40K miles on them). I bought a used JRSC and am trying to figure out the mods I need to do to my car before I throw on the charger.

The intercoolers that are on the market for the JRSC have really caught my eye, and I'm considering waiting until I get the intercooler before I throw the supercharger on-- just as a precaution.

Although I haven't done a compression or leakdown test yet, I'm considering rebuilding the engine later in the summer and going with forged internals-- either eagle or crower. Also, I'm considering-- but haven't decided whether I'll be going with new valves, springs, or retainers.... the thought of resleeving has crossed my mind- but I have been told it's unnecessary for the JRSC application (even if I put Endyne's stepper pully on which should raise the boost to 10-12 lbs...
I know I'm going to have to tune this engine-- so I figure hondata is an essential, and the need for extra fuel will lead me to a Walboro 255 intank fuel pump. I've got an MSD 6 BTM-- but have been told that they're trash for JRSC applications and that the hondata will take care of almost all of my needs.

Either way, it's going to be the latter half of the summer before I get the money together to throw into the car, so any suggestions I can get now will be very useful, as it will help me develop a sound plan for my setup before I blow money on things I don't actually need.

I am becoming a h-t junkie so most of you will be able to catch me on h-t or AIM at some point each day.

I really appreciate the responses to my post and will definately be taking advantage of you guys to help me out with suggestions and advice along the way.

sounds good and I hope the used kit you found is for a GSR. all that internal stuff you want to do to it is up to you, but is unnecessary. and hondata is a good choice, I am using the zdyne gold. if you want to go with the stepper I would suggest jims stepper, endynes is a 12% increase while jims is a 17% increase. But again its always up to you. as for the intercooler...or more accuretly aftercooler, I don't care for whats out there, so I am gonna design and build my own.
good luck wth your car.

you can get ahold of jim here. unfortuanlty I am not sure if he can get the phone or not last I heard his shop got flooded and it ruined about 4 cars there plus a bunch of his racing motors. poor guy I hope this little setback doesn't put him out of bisness.

If you are serious about the IC option, why not go all out and buy LTH's 5 rib pulley option? I mean at those PSI levels, more security wouldn't hurt. At least this is what I would do.

Thats LHT by the way. there IC are nice, but I like my design better.

not bad numbers there on that 99 si

I don't mean to show you up, but then again I have more boost, an a lighter car, my best is 13.1 at 103. but I know she is good for a high 12. ohwell

sorry sak was trying to be vague

anway, I have looked at several different designs, and with a little imgination I have come up with a design which will hopefully be low cost and very free flowing. the problem wth alot of them out there, is that they are really cramped. John's at LHT is one of the best I have seen, and since he lowered his prices, it is a pretty good bargain too. I have talked to him at the central FL CRX meet we had here a few mounths back, and he is a great guy. But I have big plans for my car, and need a little bit of a different design.

sorry I couldn't be more helpfull

I think you will understand a little better when I put up pics and dispence with all the mystery.

Don't worry about it. For a second there, I though there was something that I missed. I jus thought that you already had it. But since you are just in the process, I'll hope to see how it turns out. The JRSC IC these days are just booming.

Are the compression #'s still solid? does it burn any oil? I would worry a little about an engine with that many miles but the B18C is rock solid so if it hasn't been abusee you should be OK. Of course if you sleeve it or change out the internals you won't have any problems.

I have the Walbro 255 and B&M FPR in my car. Stock ECU, baseline fuel pressure at 42 PSI, Timing retarded 2 degrees and I have a J&S safeguard. Its running just fine so far. The J&S will occasionally catch some detonation when I really step on it but that's what it's supposed to do.

I recently installed an autometer intake temperature gauge and was a little surprised to see temps as high as 230 degrees durring the NASA HPDE at VIR in Feburary. I was pushing it pretty hard though, up to 130 MPH on the back straight I have since installed a JR water injection kit and that keeps the intake temps under 150 degrees. That makes me happy.

Anyway, I say go for it. Everyone and their crazy aunt has a turbo and they just love to crap all over the JRSC but MY humble opinion is that a a properly set up JRSC can be very potent and a blast to drive.
