Default ecu codes

on an obd1 car my engine isn't starting, I think it could be the dizzy, but the ecu won't throw any codes at all, the check engine light just stays on. I checked all the wiring and nothing seems to be wrong. What would cause the ecu to do this?

Hey, I'm not to far away from you, I'm in Johnstown. You need to find the Green plug on the wire harness above the ECU. Once you find it put a paper clip or a wire in it to bridge the circuit. This will cause your CEL to flash. If you can't get it going maybe I could drive to Albany and check it out for ya.

Default Re: ecu codes (B17A Hatch)

this is my 89 hatch with d16z6 engine, did the dpfi to mpfi conversion and obd0 to obd1 conversion. Something happened to the engine, haven't figured it out yet. The engine still cranks over, but won't start. Using blown90hatch's ecu conversion harness I'm grounding the wire he tells me to. It worked before the engine had problems, but now nothing happens, the check engine light just stays on and doesn't blink. Will this not work till I get the engine running again? That doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for any help.

If your car is a 88-89 the plug you need to find is in the engine bay near the drivers side headlight it is a yellow plug. It will have two wires in it one green and one black just tap the wires together with a paper clip, and then turn your car on and check your codes. if you have any ?'s just reply back to my email. bsphat89hatch@aol.com. hope that helps

A solid CEL is also known as code 0. if you are doing the proper funtion to check codes and the CEL is still staying on it is usually the ecu that is having problems, assuming that all the wiring is correct. I would swap that ecu into another car and see if it does it in that car

I have Solid CEL sometimes. It looks like when the motor is running good the Cel will be perfect on my satin. Like when My CEL always on when anything goes wrong the Solid CEL will go away in the middle of driving the car and give the code off the problem!!!! So I think that can’t be the problem well not in my case.

Check ur firing order.

Make sure its getting fuel.

Tell me how u did the distributor wiring?
I had same problem car started couldn't rev and couldn't start until I got a new distributor I thought it was the wring or dizzy.

make sure the TDC, CYP, CKP are working use a Militmeter to see if their is current and going to right place try running it direct if you think your Dizzy is fine!!!

Hope this helps ur car get started!!!

after you try some of the common sense stuff (fuel and spark) try taking the ecu out and seeing if it will work in a known, well running car. good luck
