I have a 95 GSR with many bolt on mods. I've had this problem before and it has come and gone away a few months at a time, but over the weekend I did a valve adjustment and changed the plugs. When I started the car it idled funny. I believe its a map sensor electrical problem, a code 3. I know that my fields SFC-VTEC fools the MAP sensor in order to add or subtract fuel.

How often do MAP sensors go bad?
Does the map sensor need a rubber gasket on its sealing surfaces?

The car cranks and sometimes wont start.
when I drove it it runs fine, but when I blip the throttle or come to a full stop, the car just sputters and shuts off.

In the past I just neede to hit a big bump and the car would just shut off.


Let me know what you guys think, but as for now, I'm gonna get a new map sensor from my friends spare T-body, I'm gonna raise my idle and do a ECU reset.

 

Sounds to me like its a wiring issue with the MAP sensor, the MAP sensor is bad.. or the SFC is using a weird air/fuel ratio. And if it is a code 3.. you can pretty much start with the map sensor... then check the wiring. Just some insight

What should I do about the wiring? I put in a MAP sensor from a 94 GSR, and it started up fine. went for a drive and then after a while, it goes bad again.
i'm back to the problem where the car just shuts off when I come to a full stop, or when i let it ldle after I rev it.

 

Yeah mee too. This really sux. I got so discouraged that I'm considering selling my car and getting a WRX, RAV4, or a used 93-94 Eclipse GSX.
