Anyone running JRSC on B16 in EF???
I'm planning on putting my B17 into a 91 DX hatch.. I'm also planning on putting a JRSC on it. I want to know if anyone else has done something similar to this.. like maybe a JRSC on a B16 in a EF. I know the B16 is a much more common swap, and is very similar to the B17. I just want to know if this is simple to do, or will I run into any problems.
I will suggest though that if you choose to do this, that you look into Place Racing mounts... they situate the motor nicely for the SC.
Here are some random pictures of the install for you by the way... For further questions regarding the installation, you can contact this cars owner at myrlinvii@aol.com ... Enjoy!

I wouldn't say that it is 'impossible'.... i'm just saying that with the Place mounts, this SC went in without cutting or mangling anything... a couple of things had to be moved, or worked around, but nothing really major, and nothing relating to the mount kit though.
i'm performing a JRSC on my B16A CRX as we speak with the newer hasport bilet mounts. i'm *hoping* that it will fit ok. so far i have all the alt brackets, etc installed as well as the mani but the blower is just sitting there. i've had to make a few modifications along the way and i plan on having to make more, but i think it will work out ok. i'll have a writeup posted once i'm finished.
Definately let us know how it goes... i'm curious about the fitment with the HASport billets as well. which JRSC kit are you starting with? the one in the pictures above is the Type-R kit..
i'm starting with the type R kit as well. i already have a list of notes going to report back to you guys as well as many many pics
i'm mostly concerned with the blower pulley hitting the brake master cylinder, but people keep telling me that it will work. i held up the blower into position and it was hard to tell. then it was time to go back to school. after finals this week, i will hopefully finish the project next weekend and post the details.

If you look in that first pic i posted, you have a good view of where th pulley is in comparison to where the MC is... they aren't really that close to each other. I think you'll be fine. Good luck with it though

well i'd like to think so. the problem i see is that the pic above uses place racing mounts, where as i'm using the hasport mounts. i "enhanced" a pic from the hasport website of a setup similar to mine, and here's what i saw:
see what i mean now? it looks like a 1/4" of clearance. and for all i know, they could have used the JR 8lb pulley in which case is smaller so that it would fit. i dont know, maybe i'm just paranoid but i guess time will tell.
here is the original pic btw:

i think the hardest thing is not knowing how much the motor moves while driving/cranking. my alternator pulley is really close, and i'm hoping that the poly mounts are stiff enough to prevent too much movement. i guess scraping marks will be the true sign of this.

very interested in your write up...i have the same plans for my b18c crx...keep us posted...
are you gonna run hondata?...</TD></TR></TABLE>
no i'm planning on using the SMC+ for cost reasons and also a JR BTC for timing. i have a wideband monitor to tune with.

been done...www.lhtperformance.net has a few pictures of their installs on the website.
also constructing intercoolers for those JRSC.
if you would like to see one(or two) in person they will be at the NOPI dragracing event in Bradenton (FL) this weekend.
285HP in a CRX HF=WOW!!!

yeah but from what i understand, john makes his own mounts - he doesnt use hasport or place racing, in which case is a whole different game as far as clearances, etc i would tend to think.
Do any of you know if AN-R mounts will allow room for the JRSC? I thought all the mount kits would position the motor in pretty much the same location. I guess I never really thought about it. I was gonna use AN-R, but if they won't allow room for the JRSC, then I'll use something else.. probably Place Racing mounts. How much are the Place Racing mounts anyway? And where can I get them for a good price?

you are correct on the fact that he custom makes the mounts. he modifies the factory rubber b-series mounts to fit the EF chassis. he custom fits each motor to each car so any variances are not a factor. this is why he doesn't just sell a mount kit. the big deal about why he does it like that can be summed up by anyone who has ridden in an EF with the solid urethane mount kits that everybody sells... the vibration from the engine. on his engine swaps, the engine looks like it is supposed to be there and feels like stock. and yes his way of doing this does allow enough room to install a JRSC. he has even gone as far to design an intercooler for his. 282HP last time at dyno...going for 300 next time..all on 8-9 psi of boost

I just talked to Brent at Hasport, and he said they have a CRX with a B16A in it with a JRSC and they haven't had any problems with anything touching. But I'm still kinda leaning toward the Place Racing mounts.
I have a b18a in a 90 crx dx using HASport billets. Does anyone know if i could fit a JRSC on there? Also if it can fit i plan on running the m62(i think thats right) blower from a type r...does anyone know what i have to do to make it work on my LS? I know it has been done plenty of times(type r sc on a LS) but ive never read any details about it. Thanks.

Very nice
Thanks for the pics. I think I'll probably be using the hasport billet mounts now.
