Dumb Q: Explain to me why you can't put a SC AND a turbo on
The floor is open. i know that obviously there is a reason why you can't, otherwise it would be the norm, but i'm trying to brainstorm here where the problem would be...would someone care to enlighten me? I think Toyota used to have a car like this...it was called the "super turbo". Am i making this up?
ive read that is possible able to do it but you will limit the boost on the sc and turbo. Theres no point of both because you can make more power doing turbo only or sc only.

That is what i figured...they would almost be working against each other...
BTW - not saying i want to do this, just curious.

about the 'super turbo' by toyota I have no clue. Why can't you put a super and turbo on a car? short answer is you CAN. It just costs a shitload and you can always make more power by just turning up the boost on a turbo so why bother? But, alot of backhoes have had this exact setup and If I remember correctly one of the big names in import performance just did a setup like this recently, for show I beleive. Someone will remember what i'm talking about... but, in essence, besides trying to control the intake temp charge, a suepr + turbo will work. Keeping charge temps cool is another problem... but alky injection and the like can always help. Bottom line-- give it a shot!
i forgot what magazine it was in but somebody "twin charged" an integra type r and it made like 400whp. i think the setup was a jackson with a t3/t4.

yeah i've heard of it being done, but there are implications. once the turbo spools, you'd have to bypass the sc otherwise the sc would restrict the boost from the turbo. a bypass valve would take care of that. also, ideally to get the benefit of the turbo, you'd want to loost the drag of spinning the sc. so you'd have to have some kind of a clutch-pulley on the sc, similar to how your a/c compressor turns on and off. other than that, i dont see what would be stopping anyone, other than the fact that its going to cost twice as much, and be twice as likely to break down
i think you guys are talking about the Meguires type R...they did a twin charge setup on that car...both sc and turbo...if not then maybe its another car...but they did do that to that car.,...pretty crazy looking i saw it at an event....
it was the October 2001 issuer of Super Street, meguiars built the car and tuned it with an Fcon. pretty awesome car, it seems to be on the stock bottom end by the way, they never mentioned any upgrades there.
