Default MSD 6BTM and gas mileage

I lost about 2.5 mpg since adding the ignition. anybody else have this problem? Timing retard is .25 per pound running 8 psi. Pretty much same driving, same boost, same 92 gas.

I bet your driving style has changed (maybe boosting more often?) OR the MSD is slowly killing your coil. When I installed my MSD 6BTM it ran perfectly for about 2 minutes, then died nice and clean. It somehow burnt out the coil, so after thinking it was the ICM and replacing that, I put in an MSD coil and it started right up.

same boosting. I'll ride it out this tank and see what comes up.

run through a few tanks before coming to a conclusion. I generally get between 26-28mpg with the same driving style, sometimes i even get 30mpg and nothing has canged.

i dont think you are supposed to run a 6 seriedMSD ona stock coil. It is made for capacative discharge coils not inductive (stock) Could be wrong about that but just thought Id let you know.

Also my fuel mileage is pretty shitty too witht he BTM but I belive its my driving style. I boost at 10psi (JRSC) and hardly ever get off the throttle.

Yeah I just pulled out my MSD book and it says its ok to use with a stock coil but you wont get the best results as you would with a blaster. My bad.

Yea I'll run a few tanks first. The lowest I previously hit was 28.2 mpg which was boosting everywhere. Highest was 31.5. First tank with ignition was 25.7. so something isn't right. I check each tank and fill each tank the same I'll post up after this tank.

27.03 this previous tank and I was babying it alot. Before the MSD with the same driving it was right around 29. So there was definitely a loss. Am I the only one that has noticed this? Thanks.

thats rite where I'm at. 27mpg and if i'm not cruising, I'm on the gas in boost .....
If i do a lot of freeway driving (80%) I get about 30mpg
If i do a lot of city driving it's generally about 27mpg (25-27). I don't have any before and after like you do, so i can say if mine went down or not, IMO 27mpg is good for a boosted engine.
