climate control - temp. cables?
i recently bought a climate control unit and i installed it. Problem is.. i noticed that there are two holes for cables on the temperature peice but i only have one. I only have the cable on the right side. After instaling it i don't have hot air but just cold air. Is this becuase i need the left cable also? or is it because my right cable is messed up? Before when i had my old climate control it would always get stuck.
Is the right metal cable supposed to slide in and out of the black tubing?

it's probably the air mix control cable and in that case there should be only one. you only have one cable, either on the right side or left side, depending on whether your car is rhd or lhd. make sure the end of the cable is attached to the actual hot/cold switch. underneath the glove compartment near near the rear of the center console. hth
i have a 98 integra. I'm not sure what year the climate control came out of. BUt the new and old ones look identical.
the metal cable is attached to the lever. What i'm wondering is does the actual metal cable slide in and out of the black tubing? or does it not. Because right now the cabe moves as a whole... as a result i cant get hot air. Help me out
Also, how does the car know whether to push out hot or cold air? I'm guessing the metal cable slides in and out of the black tubing.. i'm not sure.

i believe the only part that moves is the actual wire. the tubing is just the housing that should be pinched and locked by some slot on the back of the climate control unit and another slot near the other end...
it's like the brakes on a bicycle. the wire moves, but not the tubing. also, down near the glove/center console where i said before...the wire should end in a loop and be looped over this metal lever that sticks out ...moving that level determines hot/cold
