My SRS system is fuk up. help.
This is how it all began. Few days ago My dash was worked on by friends/the shop. Steering wheel was taken out. After Dash done, Steering wheel was put back. While driving home, I found out that the steering wheel (center "A") had to be pointed at 11 o'clock for the car to drive straight. If let go, the wheel would stay at 11 o'clock and car would go straight(so I know it's not alignment or tires). When I turned my steering wheel ALL the way to the LEFT or RIGHT, the center("A") would point at 5 O'clock either way. which is not normal because it should be 7'ocl and 5'ocl respectively.
Took it back, Recenter the steering wheel. Wheel was straight that day/night. BUT the center ("A") now points at 6 O'clock when I turned the wheel all the way LEFT or RIGHT. Next day when I tried to drive car, SRS light came on and off(with a beep first) WHENEVER I tried to move the steering wheel right or left, ESPECIALLY to the right. Even when idling.
Took it back once again. Removed steering wheel, Reinstalled, this time the SRS lights just stayed ON. ALWAYS on now.
What could be the problem? sensors? the connectors? airbags? toes?
the shop told me the problem is #4(in the pic),Reel assay damaged?

unplug your battery and unplug your ecu for awhile. and then plug it back in.

yup, that should fix the problem. just take the battery out for couple of min. & install back in.

Unfortunately, resetting the ecu has nothing to do with the SRS computer. You'll have to reset the SRS. You can take it to the dealer, which is like $60 to do. You can do it yourself or tell your friends shop to do it. Check the H-T archives. . .
can someone tell me what part number 4 is called.
Its the unit that goes on before the wheel. If that component comes apart and the reel like ribbon is exposed, is that module still good? Thanks

If part #4 (the cable reel) was not installed correctly, and it sounds like it was not, it becomes damaged. An open circuit is created between the SRS ECU and the driver's airbag, hence the SRS light. Resetting the ECU will not cure the problem. A new cable reel, installed correctly, and then reset the SRS light. They are not cheap, BTW.
right now my SRS light stays on because the steering wheel I bought has SRS plugs that do not match my 95 GSR ones. So they're not connected. Does this mean I could have damaged #4 as well?
It's possible to put the cable reel back together, I had to do it once. Just depends on how badly it came apart. If it was installed out of synch and damaged, it will need to be replaced.
