Comparing lb-ft to kg is like comparing apples to oranges. I think what .RJ was is telling you is that you CAN convert lb-ft to newton-meters, which at least is a metric value like kg.

Torque is a measure of force, kg is a weight. Not the same thing, they cannot be converted back and forth. Go here and search for more info: http://www.howstuffworks.com/

1 ft-lb = 1.797 kgf m

That's kilogram force meter.

What is a kg force meter? I dont believe there is such a thing. Torque is measured in Newton*meters. 1 lb is 4.448 N...1 ft = 0.305 m....that means 1ft*lb equates to 1.356 N*m. Not ridin on anybody, just statin facts.

Yes, kgf-m exists. My physics book says so

1 lb-ft = 0.138 kgf-m

Pounds can convert to Kilograms just like they convert to Newtons.

Well yes obviously you were going to have to use math to convert the numbers.

But here's a torque conversion calculator you can use.
