Default d16z with a d16y8 head??

I have searched and didnt really find a definite answer and wanted to know if anyone can help me out...I am debating if I want to do this.
I have a d16z in my del sol i just bought and wanted to know if its worth it to swap to the y8 head? or is it possible to use just the IM, TB, and head gasket, etc from the y8 instead and keep my head? anything will help and appreciate..
thanks

probably not worth the effort, u could use the intake manifold from the y8 on your z6 head that would be a decent easy upgrade.

there was a large discussion on the difference between the z6 and the y8 head. supposedly the intake ports are different.

according to a picture that was posted the z6 is better for power with the ports being symetrical and the y8 was better for fuel efficiency (sp?) due to non-symetry (biased towards one of the intake valves)

Search some more or check out spade's post about sohc upgrades. This topic might be discussed in there. Or the post im referring to could have been linked in there.

The Y8 has a stronger tranny, better intake manifold and exhaust manifold, slightly more aggressive cam and higher compression ratio due to the smaller combusion chambers. The Z6 has a better flowing head and more tunable ecu.

Quite sure that he meant d16y8. I don't know that I would bother with swapping from a z6 to y8 head. The z6 head flows better on the high end. If anything, I would get the z6 head cleaned up and rebuilt. Just a mild port job, valvetrain and a new cam.
