Default Muffler design w/testpipe

Would it be pointless to run a testpipe with a twin loop exhaust? To seea real difference from the testpipe, do you need an N1 muffler? What kind of whp gain could I approximately expect on a stock R with the following setups:

-testpipe/N1 exhaust (JUN, Apex, etc..)
-testpipe/twin loop exhaust (Hytech, Mugen)
-highflow cat/twin loop exhaust

The reason I am trying to stay away from the N1 design is because I am really an anti buzzy exhaust person. I cant stand it. To each is his own I guess. If I use the twin loop with the testpipe, will I still get that raspy tone from the testpipe?

Sorry about all of the questions..

Jon

I just put the apexi n1 on my car last night. my testpipe isn't in yet, but so far, even with the silencer off, no raspiness to be found . I love it. sounds great down low, and the same but a little louder after vtec switchover, or as everyone loves to say: "In VTEC"

I dont know.. someone posted a video of their CW ITR with the Apex N1, and it sounded to raspy for me. I think its the N1 design that makes the exhausts that way. Maybe its not the worst raspy sound, but its still kinda got that motercycle tone which i am not a fan of on cars.

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks at the EXPO. I installed a straight pipe with a Spoon and Mugen Exhaust. Only thing, I never got a chance to start her up...

With the sound of your post it looks like we have a tailered car going to the expo See you there.

I haven't noticed any raspiness with the ApexN1. I am going to the dragway tomorrow so that will be a good test as far as sound.

I will say that the best sound was with just the A pipe from the ApexN1 attached. It was very loud, but sounded great. It had a much deeper tone.

Yup, hehe.. I have the video of yer awesome Mugen R on my computer from that post. All I really hear coming from that car is the awesome engine sound from the intake, correct me if Im wrong... and the Mugen Twinloop is so superquiet. I am just wondering, what kind of whp difference are we talkin about between something like the Mugen Twin Loop and the N1 exhausts like the JUN and Apex? The N1 design must make some more because it is a straightthrough design.

BTW-why do you think testpipes are a pain in the ***...because of the legality issues or what?

I had the mugen exhaust and God's test pipe with a jdm header and the sound was fairly quiet. A slight hum but exhaust note was quite and thats how I like it..However, now that I just installed my Toda's in my car, the sound is definitely loud to say the least probably would of been a lot louder if I had the N1 exhaust..When I eventually dyno I'll let u know my numbers...
