Default fuel pump

i think my fuel pump is going bad, i have to give it a little gas to to start the car and i can feel a slight drop in performance the lower my fuel level gets. i'm going to check the strainer but i have a good feeling i'll need to replace the pump.

now, i have two questions first i plan on going n/a and rebuilding the engine, eventually. its my daily driver now and i want to know should i get a high flow pump and get a regulator to lower the pressure. (will doing so potentially cause any problems). or just go with a oem or slightly better pump?

my second question is what pumps do you recommend, any experiences etc. oh btw i'm not a "big baller" so don't recommend the mugen platinum coated fuel pump or some crazy ****.

That was funny as hell...But anyway

I wont hurt to go ahead and get an aftermarket fuel pump and FPR, also while you are at it you may as well replace the filter also. As far as adjusting the FPR once have everything else on, I wouldnt touch it...Some may tell you that its ok to adjust it just as long as you stay within a certain range...but im waiting till go to the dyno (its all personal opinion)

Im currenty running a slighty built JDM H22a in my 3rd gen and im using a Walbro GSS342 pump in my car (supports 300-400 hp I think) with an aem FPR and rail and stock honda replacement fuel filter.

Walboro pumps are like 100 bucks...cheap and valuable investment IMHO

So once you start your build up you will already have a good head start in the fuel system department.

Hope this helps.

if you get an aftermarket fuel pump and keep the oem fpr, will the pressure change?

i'm not sure if the new pump would change the pressure because of stock fpr, but i know the fuel system was enginered to operate with certain components. when you change the fuel pump you're pushing more fuel for that fpr to regulate so i wasn't sure if i needed to change the fpr or not. it is my daily driver and i need transportation. so i'm very concerned about reliability, i'd rather be safe then sorry.

no it will not change the pressure. Pressure and volume are two different things.

when your gas in your car lowers, does this in turn lower your fuel pressure?

If you get a 255l/hr walbro pump and don't get a FPR to lower fuel pressure you will run way to rich.

i'm wondering this also, but now i remember someone on here w/ an aftermarket fuel pump and a B&M fpr, and he was having problems turning the pressure down enough, so it seems that a stock one would have more problems.
